Know the week someone files a mark like yours.
ipwatch reads every Trade Marks Journal, including the logos, and tells you which newly advertised marks look or sound like yours, with the last day to oppose them.
A mark like yours can be advertised any week
Before a trade mark is registered in India, it is advertised so that anyone can object. If nobody is watching for you, the chance to object passes quietly.
- Every weekIP India publishes a Trade Marks Journal advertising thousands of newly accepted marks, across all 45 classes.
- 4 monthsAnyone may oppose an advertised mark within four months of the journal date. The period cannot be extended.
- After thatThe mark is likely to be registered, and the remedy is to apply for rectification of the register: slower and costlier than an opposition.
- Logos are picturesLogo marks are printed in the journal as images, so a text search of the journal never sees the words in them.
How it works
- 01
Add the marks you own
Type a mark and its classes, or describe what you sell and get class suggestions. Upload a logo and we read its words, or import a list from a CSV file. Flag a well-known mark to check every class.
- 02
We read every journal
Each weekly Trade Marks Journal is checked against your marks when it is published, for names that look or sound alike, in the same or related classes. About seven in ten marks are logos, so an AI model reads the words in them too.
- 03
Decide before the deadline
You get an email with the matches, ranked, each with a side-by-side page and the last day to oppose: four months from the journal, with no extension. Dismiss, keep an eye on, or mark to oppose, and we remind you 30 and 7 days before.
What ipwatch does
Weekly watch
Every Trade Marks Journal is checked against every mark you watch, the week it is published. Matches are marked Likely or Possible.
Logo reading
An AI model reads the words printed in each logo in the journal, and in logos you upload, so logo marks are matched like word marks.
Indian-language phonetics
Similar-sounding spellings common in Indian marks are caught: SWAADIKA and SVAADIKA, SHREE and SRI, KRISHNAA and KRISHNA.
Related classes
Goods and services in related classes are checked too, such as software (9) with IT services (42), or clothing (25) with bags (18).
Deadlines and reminders
Every match shows the last day to oppose. Mark one to oppose and we email you 30 and 7 days before that day.
An AI second opinion
An AI model gives a view on each match and helps rank them, so the ones most worth a look come first. It never hides or removes a match.
Clearance search and reports
Search every advertised mark before you file. Save each search, download it as a PDF report, and export searches and matches to Excel or CSV.
Class suggestions
Not sure of the classes? Describe what you sell in a sentence and pick from the classes suggested.
Team access
Team access on Firm and Agency plans: invite colleagues to one account, as owners or members, up to 5 or 10 users. Everyone works from the same marks, matches and decisions.
Other registers
Search and watch in 11 more registers: US, EU, UK, and more. One international credit a search; 2 a month to watch a mark. Sold in packs on any paid plan.
Who it is for
Brand owners and startups
Watch the marks your business depends on, and search for similar marks before you file a new name or print it on a pack.
Law firms and trade mark agents
Watch many client marks from one account, with your client reference on each mark. Import marks from a CSV file and export matches to Excel or CSV for client reporting.
In-house legal teams
Record a decision on each match and let the reminders keep track of opposition deadlines. Firm and Agency plans add users for a team.
For law firms and IP agencies
Keep each client’s portfolio in its own place, and send each client its own watch report after every journal.
Client folders
File marks under each client, in folders, with hundreds of marks per client. Bring a portfolio in at once: search the journal by the applicant’s name and add its marks, paste a list of application numbers, or import a spreadsheet with Client and Folder columns. Open matches and the next deadline are shown client by client.
Client watch reports
After each journal, a PDF watch report for each client, with every match reviewed by QCounsel, issued under your firm’s name, logo and signature. Email it to the client’s contacts once you have approved it, or have ipwatch send it automatically, holding back for your approval any report with a threat if you choose.
On the Firm and Agency plans. A report uses 1 QCounsel credit for each match reviewed; a match reviewed in the last 30 days is not charged again.
Reviewed by QCounsel
QCounsel is Quoqo’s trade mark AI. Ask it to review a match and it gives a verdict, threat, monitor or not a concern, with its reasons and a recommended action, beside the last day to oppose.
- On any paid plan, review one match from its page, or tick up to 100 on the matches list.
- A review uses 1 credit. If a review fails, its credit is given back.
- ₹10 a match review + GST, in packs of 100 or 500 credits.
- Included every month: Professional 20, Firm 100, Agency 300 credits, 1 credit a review. On Solo and Starter, buy credits as you need them.
AI review, not reviewed by an advocate. Use it to decide what to look at first, and take advice before you oppose.
ZENTRIVO differs from ZENTRIVA in its last letter only, and the two sound almost the same. Both cover pharmaceutical preparations in class 5, where confusion between medicines matters most.

What the data can tell you
ipwatch knows each mark as it was advertised in the Trade Marks Journal. It does not know whether a mark was later registered, opposed, refused or withdrawn, and it cannot see applications not yet advertised. Treat a search as a first screen, not legal advice.
The index holds journals published since 2005 and is being re-read with a corrected reader. The range of journals you can search today is shown on every search result.
It shows each mark as advertised, not its current status: status from the Registry’s e-register is planned, not yet shown.

What is the Trade Marks Journal?
The weekly publication of the Indian Trade Marks Registry (IP India). It advertises applications that have been accepted, before they are registered, so that anyone who objects can oppose them.
How long do I have to oppose a mark?
Four months from the date of the journal that advertised it, and the period cannot be extended. ipwatch shows the last day on every match, and reminds you 30 and 7 days before for matches you mark to oppose.
Do you read logos?
Yes. An AI model reads the words printed in each logo in the journal, and in any logo you upload, and those words are matched like a word mark. ipwatch compares words, not pictures: a logo with no words in it is not matched by its image.
Which classes do you check?
The classes you give each watched mark, and the classes related to them, such as 9 and 42. A mark flagged as well known is checked in every class.
Is this legal advice?
No. ipwatch is a first screen that tells you what to look at, and a QCounsel review is an AI review, not reviewed by an advocate. Before you file, oppose or decide not to, consult a trade mark agent or advocate.
Can my law firm use it for clients?
Yes. File client marks under each client, in folders, with a client reference on each, import them by applicant name, application numbers or spreadsheet, and export matches to Excel or CSV. On the Firm and Agency plans each client can get a watch report after every journal, reviewed by QCounsel and sent under your firm’s name. The Firm and Agency plans let you invite colleagues, up to 5 or 10 users.
Where is my data kept, and what goes to AI providers?
Your marks, searches and decisions are visible only to your account. Logos are sent through OpenRouter to Google’s Gemini models only to read their words; an uploaded logo goes only to providers that keep no copy, and ipwatch does not store it. For class suggestions and the AI view of a match, the description of what you sell and the marks and classes being compared are sent through OpenRouter to TypeSafe’s Jev model; no proprietor or account details are sent. For a QCounsel review, your mark (its classes and goods or services, and the client’s name and reference when it is filed under a client) and the journal record of the match go to QCounsel and the AI providers it uses. The privacy page has the details.
