ipwatch

Privacy

This notice explains how ipwatch, a service of Quoqo Technologies Private Limited, handles personal data. It sits alongside the Terms of Use.

What ipwatch stores

Your account and the people in it (name, email, a hashed password), the marks you watch, the applicant names you confirm as yours, your decisions and notes on matches, and your searches. The names and marks you search for are kept in your account's history so you can reopen, repeat and export them. Other accounts cannot see any of this.

If you use clients and watch reports, ipwatch also stores your clients and their folders; the names and email addresses of the client contacts you add, and whether each receives reports as To or Cc; the covering-letter addressee you enter; your firm's name, logo and signature for reports; each report you prepare; and a record of each report email: who it went to, when, and whether it was delivered or bounced. These stay in your account until you remove them or your account is deleted. Other accounts cannot see any of this.

Public checks are not stored. The only thing kept from one is the time and IP address of the request, kept for 180 days to limit abuse.

Sign-in and security records

Each signed-in session records the IP address and browser (user-agent) it was started from, so you can see and end your sessions under Password and sessions. A session's record is kept for 180 days after you sign out or it expires, and then deleted.

Sign-in, sign-up, password reset and email confirmation attempts record the email address entered and the IP address, to limit repeated guessing. These records are kept for 180 days and then deleted.

When you agree to the Terms of Use (when you create an account, when you choose a plan, or when asked at sign-in), we record which version you agreed to, when, the account, and the IP address and browser it came from, as the record of that agreement.

Journal data is public

The trade mark journal entries ipwatch searches and shows are public records published by the Indian Trade Marks Registry. ipwatch does not add private information to them.

Logos printed in the journal are read the same way as uploaded logos: the images are sent to Google's Gemini models, through OpenRouter, to read the words in them. These are public journal images.

Searches and watches in other countries

When you search, or watch one of your marks, in the trade mark registers of countries other than India, ipwatch sends Signa (Signa, Cyprus), a trade mark data provider, the mark text, its classes and the countries it was asked for. Nothing about you is sent: no name, no email address, no account, client or proprietor details. Signa answers from those countries' official registers, and the results shown to you come from them; each result links to the register's own record where it can.

The results are public register data. ipwatch keeps them so that a search it answered recently is answered again within a short window (7 days at the time of writing) without being sent to Signa again — for you, and for another account that searched the same thing. Your own searches, matches and decisions in other countries, like your Indian ones, are kept with your account and are visible to no other account. India's registers are always read from ipwatch's own index of the Indian Trade Marks Journal, which Signa does not cover.

Corrections to logo words

If you correct the words read from a logo printed in the journal, your words are saved with your account. From then on that logo is matched, for every account, by both the words read and your words; your words never replace the words read. Other accounts see your words marked “corrected by a user”, but never who made the correction. You can withdraw a correction at any time.

Logos you upload

When you search with a logo, or upload a logo when you watch a mark, the image is sent to Google's Gemini models, through OpenRouter, only to read the words in it. Requests are routed only to providers that keep no copy of the image (zero data retention), and it is not used to train models. The image is not kept by ipwatch: it is not stored after the words have been read, and only the words that were read are used for the search. This is not the case for a reference logo you upload for use evidence: see Use evidence.

Use evidence

On a watched mark's Evidence tab you can add pages and files that show the mark in use. ipwatch captures the pages you add, and looks for earlier copies of them, and of your own sites, in the Internet Archive's public copies. To look up those copies, the site addresses and links you add are sent to the Internet Archive's index. It only reads those copies: it never submits a page to the Internet Archive. The pages you add, and the mark's words, are sent to a capture service that opens each page in a browser to take a screenshot and a PDF.

The screenshots, page PDFs and files you upload are stored with your account until you delete them, or until the account's data is deleted under clause 18.3 of the Terms of Use. They are kept with a mark you archive. An annexure you prepare, and its ZIP, are kept for 30 days and then deleted; you can prepare it again.

Only each item's SHA-256 fingerprint (a short code worked out from the files) is sent to a timestamp authority, DigiCert or, if it does not answer, a second public authority, to be signed with the time. The files themselves are never sent. Uploaded files are timestamped by the worker soon after they are uploaded.

If you upload a reference logo, each screenshot of a page and that logo are sent to Google's Gemini models, through OpenRouter, to check whether the logo appears on the page. Requests are routed only to providers that keep no copy (zero data retention). Uploaded files are not sent.

The reference logo you upload on the Evidence tab is kept with your account, for that check and for the annexure, until you replace it or ask for it to be deleted, or until the account's data is deleted.

Previews as you type

While you type a mark on the Watched marks page, ipwatch looks it up in its own journal index to show similar marks already advertised. The mark is not sent to anyone else, and the preview is not stored or logged; only the time and your user ID are recorded, to limit how many previews one person asks for, and kept for 180 days.

Class suggestions and the AI view on matches

When you ask for class suggestions (on the signed-in forms they are asked for as you type, once you pause), the description you type of what you sell is sent, through OpenRouter, to TypeSafe's Jev model. For suggestions, the name or mark is never sent. Requests are routed only to endpoints that keep no copy of what is sent (zero data retention), as for logo reading, and TypeSafe states that it does not train models on these inputs. When you give a description with a search or a watched mark, the description (never the mark) is also sent the same way to TypeSafe's Jev model to check whether marks in other classes sell related goods or services; the answers are kept under a one-way hash of the description, never the description itself. ipwatch does not store the description for searches or checks; it stores it with a watched mark only when you save one.

For each new watch match, the watched mark, its classes and its description of what you sell (when you gave one), and the mark and classes published in the journal, are sent through OpenRouter to TypeSafe's Jev model for the AI view on the match. No proprietor, address or other account details are sent. The same applies here: requests are routed only to zero-data-retention endpoints, and TypeSafe states that it does not train models on these inputs. The AI view only orders matches; it never hides or removes one.

QCounsel review of matches and client watch reports

When a watch report is prepared, or a user asks QCounsel to review one or more matches, ipwatch sends QCounsel, a legal AI service run by Quoqo Technologies Private Limited, the facts needed to review each match: the client's name and reference; the client's watched marks (the mark, its classes and its description of goods or services); and, for each match, the public journal record (the published mark, the applicant's name as printed in the journal, the classes, the application number, the journal and the last day to oppose). No contact's name, email address or postal address is sent to QCounsel.

QCounsel's review is made by AI models. Each request goes to the first of these providers that answers: Moonshot AI (Kimi models); a server run by Quoqo itself; OpenRouter, routed to DeepInfra or Moonshot AI; Z.ai (GLM models); and Ollama. Moonshot AI and Z.ai are based in China; OpenRouter, DeepInfra and Ollama are based in the United States. These providers may keep requests for a period under their own terms. Unlike logo reading and the AI view, these requests are not limited to providers that keep no copy, and we have not confirmed that every one of them refrains from using requests to improve its models. The finished report is a PDF stored with your account.

Emails to your clients

When a user sends a report, or when automatic sending is turned on for a client, ipwatch emails the report to the client contacts chosen, on your firm's behalf. It is sent through Resend from reports@ipwatch.in, and replies go to your team. Resend tells ipwatch whether each email was delivered, bounced or marked as spam, and that is kept with the send record. You decide who receives these emails: for the contacts' personal data you are the data fiduciary and ipwatch processes it for you (see the Terms of Use, clause 19 and Schedule 1).

Analytics

The public pages, such as the home page, use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It sets no cookies and builds no profile of you.

Google Analytics runs on the same public pages only if you allow it in the banner shown there. Until you do, it is not loaded and sets no cookies; if you allow it, Google sets its _ga cookies to tell visits apart. To change your answer, use “Cookie settings” at the foot of those pages. Neither runs on sign-in pages or inside your account.

Contact form

A message sent through the contact form keeps the email address, name, topic and message you enter, and the IP address it came from. It is emailed to our support team, kept for 180 days and then deleted, and used only to reply to you. Sending one also records the time, your IP address and the email address entered, kept for 180 days to limit abuse.

Usage counts

We count how ipwatch is used, such as numbers of searches, matches and alerts, to run and improve it. These counts do not identify you, your account, your marks or your searches.

Email and payments

ipwatch sends email, such as sign-in confirmations, invitations, match alerts and, for firms, client watch reports, through Resend. Payments are handled by Razorpay; card and bank details go to Razorpay and never reach ipwatch.

Deletion and questions

To ask for your account and its data to be deleted, or with any question about this page, use the contact form (choose “Privacy or data request”).
